When is migration required?

Your website on the retro 1.0 version of our platform will continue to function until at least June 2023, and after that we will keep the old platform working as long as is necessary/reasonable to prevent sites from going offline. So in the next year we would love to help everyone migrate to the new platform, because it's just better for you (new functionality, new designs, etc). And we are encouraging that transition sooner than later particularly because the legal ADA compliance requirements for disabled persons are urgent.

Is there a learning curve?

The new version of Gutensite is easy to use. We have a simple introductory training video and our proactive support can continue to assist you as usual. Most editing/management tasks are very simple, so after you learn the basics you'll have no problems.

Is migration free?

We will automatically create a website account on the new platform and migrate all your data/pages from 1.0 to 2.0 for free. But ...

Over the last few years, we have been working on the overly ambitious project of rebuilding our Website Builder and Content Management System based on modern coding standards, cutting edge design, and advanced functionality. We have upgraded the default calendar functionality so that when an event is clicked in the Calendar or List view, it opens up a nicely designed "lightbox" with all the details for the event. This can be closed and the visitor is still on the original calendar page. This makes viewing calendar events more convenient. Previously we had a details preview that popped up and the visitor had to then go to another details page, then return to the calendar, etc. Our upgrade provides a much more streamlined workflow.

We also took the time to upgrade the design of the details page, in case anyone visits the page directly.

Now it is easier than ever to upgrade to a professional package, or manage additional upgrades for advanced functionality. We've just finished our upgrade interface, and we hope that it gives our clients more control over this simple but important process. It's very interactive and fun to use. Choosing different packages shows what features are included in the package, and the upgrades are totaled on the right. If you know your domain name, the system will upgrade you instantly and create a private hosting account instantaneously.

We're cleaning house and slowly giving a makeover to all the designs for default specialty content pages. Most recently, we just redesigned the property list and details pages in keeping with the clean, modern theme that characterizes all the new default content. All our clients who didn't customize their property pages, will benefit from this free upgrade, giving their sites an instant refresh.

Multimedia Library Design

As mentioned in the previous post, we made some significant design upgrades to our default content pages. The multimedia library (as well as the regular file library) now sport a sleek new skin that let you show off your video and audio files in style. Small icons indicate whether the file is Video or Audio, a sample thumbnail attracts your visitors' attention, and you can provide a witty title and short description about the video. Then whatever stats you enter about the video will show up on the right, e.g. date, size, time length, category, etc. We've also improved the category filters and search options at the top. We hope you like it.
